Tan, guide & owner of TONTAN TRAVEL with the rare sight of a road-crossing Bengal Slow Loris

Put a nature photographer - on his way to explore Thailand's jungles - on the seat next to a travel-minded girl with a degree in tourism on the bus from Bangkok to Krabi and before you know, new ideas are born (and sparks fly... ).
We are Ton & Tan, the founders of Tontan Travel.
In Thai Ton means tree and Tan means sugar; the Tontan is a tall palm species (Borassus flabellifer) commonly seen in the rice fields in Thailand used to produce palm sugar.
Maybe it's just coincidence, maybe it's meant to be... but the name for our tour company was born.

After graduation, Tan worked for tour operators and several hotels & resorts, but always dreamed about starting her own company: a company running tours for the foreign visitors that come to her home country. With the successful start of Tontan Travel, her dream came true.
Besides managing the business, Tan is one of our main tour guide. Her enthusiasm for her home country's biodiversity and her culture, and at the same time her interest in the culture of others, is written all over her face. She enjoys it and will definitely make sure that you will enjoy your time even more. Tan speaks English and Thai, maybe she can even help you to learn more of the local language.

Ton is a nature photographer who has traveled around the globe in search for wildlife and scenic landscapes. His images have been published internationally on calendars, in magazines, and have been used as fine-art prints to decorate interiors.
Driven by his passion for nature, he has explored many of the national parks in Thailand and loves this divers country (and the lovely guide mentioned above ).

Over time, we've met enthusiastic locals that share our passion for wildlife. We exchanged valuable knowledge and latest interesting wildlife sightings, and soon good friendships were born. These local people that know the parks from inside out now work with us as guides or drivers. They are the key to a successful visit to a nature park, their keen eyes for spotting wildlife will make the difference. You'll soon notice this turns out to be invaluable when you're wandering around in a nature park. We praise ourselves lucky that all these people we work with - besides being experienced wildlife spotters and skilled English speakers - are service-minded and will go the extra mile to make your trip just like you want it to be!

Why? When you have visited Thailand, you'll understand why. We love traveling, we love Thailand, we love nature in general - wildlife in particular, and we love eachother!
Can't think of any better reasons.

We met in 2008. And since we're both passionate about traveling, nature, freedom, and Thailand, it didn't take long before the idea was born to start our own organisation with the main goal to share our passions with others - people who will soon fall in love with this amazing country.

We started in the province - Korat (also known as Nakhon Ratchasima) - where Tan was born. By coincidence we happened to live close to one of Thailand's best national parks for wildlife watching - Khao Yai national park. Currently, Khao Yai is our most popular destination and we feel privileged to be visiting this wonderful wilderness on a daily basis. But over time we have added some more wildlife destinations to the list of tours; Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary & Kaeng Krachan national park. We plan to service all major wildlife reserves in Thailand in the future.
