Khao Yai Jungle Trekking | ITINERARY
Here follows an example itinerary.
Day 1 (08:00AM to ±20:30PM)
The first morning, we go trekking in the jungle, after a slow drive into the park. We lunch at the park restaurant. In the afternoon, we visit Khao Yai's most impressive waterfall, Haew Narok. By car we explore areas where wild elephants often visit the saltlicks in the late afternoon. We'll have dinner in the park and continue with an exciting night safari using a spotlight to spot nocturnal wildlife. Our guide will return you to your hotel.
Day 2 (08:00AM to ±18:00PM)
Our guide will pick you up at your hotel, and today we start with another trek in the jungle. We try to look for any signs that lead us to interesting wildlife. After lunch we'll visit Haew Suwat waterfall, known from the movie 'The Beach'. And afterwards drive to a viewpoint with a wide vista over Khao Yai's jungle. The last hour(s) before darkness falls, we'll end the tour with a daytime safari drive in search for elephants. Or instead of the search for elephants, it is possible to visit the bat caves (Not within the park boundaries; quite a drive out of the park) to see the incredible amount of bats going out on their daily feeding migration at sunset. And then the tour ends, you'll be returned to Pak Chong (or your hotel) around dinner time.
Note: Often enough, our itineraries get turned upside down; it is impossible to plan in nature; the above is just an example itinerary.
Khao Yai Jungle Trekking - Where & When?
Khao Yai national park lies just 2.5 - 3 hours from Bangkok. Our Jungle Trekkings start from Pak Chong, easy to reach by bus or train, but private transfers from Bangkok or elsewhere are on offer, as well.
The park is accessible througout the year, and our trekkings can take off every day of the year. Every season has its own advantages. November to February is generally dry and cool (bring a sweater!), but personally we love the wet season from June to October. You will get wet, but the waterfalls are more impressive, the forests are lush and green, and warmth- and moist-loving animals are seen more often.
Khao Yai Jungle Trekking - How Much?
These 2-day Jungle Trekkings are only offered as private trekkings. For those wanting some comfortability it is recommended to book a hotel near the park during your tour. However, we can offer basic accommodation - tenting or lodging in the park cabins - in the national park, free of charge. Ask us about more details on the hotel near the park, or the lodging options inside the park.
A list of what is included can be found on the right.
